Weekly Devotional Prayer

Week 6 Going (Oct 24-Oct 31)

Pray: Heavenly Father, thank you that you have given us the treasure of your Gospel to carry in imperfect jars of clay. Help us not to keep that treasure to ourselves, but to share it with those who desperately need it! And Lord, help us to recount the great work that you have done in our lives – how we are changed because of you – so that we can share that with others. Remind us Lord that you call us to go, but that we do not go alone – you go with us. And remind us that while we carry the message, it is your Holy Spirit that changes hearts. May we spread the seed of your Word liberally, and allow your Holy Spirit to work in many hearts through us. May there be more people in heaven on the Last Day because of what we do today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen. 

Week 5 Giving (Oct 17-23)

Pray: Heavenly Father, thank you that you were so generous to us in the giving of your Son for our salvation. Jesus, thank you for giving your life for us, and giving us all good things! Help me to understand that I am rich, and that you have called me to be generous with what you have given me. Lord, cause me to release my grip on money, and in so doing free my heart to love and serve you more. May I see my sacrifice not as a loss, but as an opportunity for you to work through me, and therefore to be a powerful witness for you in the world! Jesus, I know my giving is not intended to repay you for what you have freely given to me but help me to give out of a response to your generous love of me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

Week 4 Serving (Oct 10-Oct 16)

Pray: Lord, thank you that you showed us your love by serving us. Even though you are the Lord of all, you came to serve, rather than be served. You showed the depth of that love and service by giving your life for me! Lord, thank you! I know I can never repay you for what you have done, nor do you ask me to. Help me, though, to demonstrate my love and thankfulness to you by serving others. Remind me Lord that you’ve said that what we do to others in Your Name is as though we have done it to You. Help me to serve out of the right motivation of heart, and in so doing to become more like you! In Your Name, dear Jesus. Amen. 

Week 3 Forgiving (Oct 3 - Oct 9)

Pray: Lord, thank you that you have forgiven me all of my sins. Help me to forgive myself … and help me to forgive others. Lord, where people have hurt me and I’m not ready to forgive, soften my heart and cause me to be able to forgive. Help me to spend more time in your Word so that I appreciate who I am as your child, and so that all I seek to do for you grows out of my relationship with you. And help me to understand and appreciate the forgiveness you have won for me that has restored my relationship with my Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ Name. Amen! 

Week 2 BEING (Sept 26-Oct 2)

Pray: Lord, thank you that you give me your words to reveal yourself to me, and to guide me in my life. Help me put your words into practice. Change me, and make me to be more like you. Help me to set aside the busyness and distraction in my life and spend time with you. Teach me to find rest in you. As you renew me, strengthen me and fill me in your presence, show me who you want me to serve and where you want me to go. But first, Jesus remind me that I am your loved and forgiven child and that you are always there for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen! 

Weekly Red Letter Verses

40 DAY LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE

The mission of Red Letter Challenge (RLC) is to help people be more like Jesus. At Peace, we believe that if people met the real Jesus, they would really fall in love with Him.

So how do we help people meet Jesus? We go back to Christ’s words. You know, those red letters in your Bible. It turns out Jesus had a lot to say to His followers about who they are in Christ and how we are called to live.
The RLC sermon series will kickoff on Sunday, September 19. Day 1 of reading the book will begin on Tuesday, September 21. We encourage YOU and YOUR FAMILY to engage in the RLC in 4 ways:

Step 1: Sign up to be a part of the Red Letter Challenge (Sign up begins August 29)

Step 2. GET THE BOOK
The Red Letter Challenge, by Pastor Zach Zehnder, will be available to pick up (suggested donation of $16) at Peace Lutheran starting Sunday August 29.

Step 3. COME ON SUNDAYS
Every Sunday during the Red Letter Challenge, the sermon messages will kick-off that week’s theme and daily readings.

Step 4. JOIN A GROUP
We hope to  have mid-week home groups, Sunday morning there will be two groups one at 8:15 am and one at 10:45 am, and the Sunday School and Youth will also go through the Red Letter Challenge on Sunday Mornings!  (Group Sign up begins August 29)
